The Association has a policy of encouraging juniors to participate in all club activities. Junior membership is $10 per year, and this includes a calendar of the year's activities and a monthly newsletter. We also encourage Family membership, which includes a couple and their children or grandchildren. Juniors are aged up to 18.

There are several Junior categories in our annual trophy list, including one for “Junior of the Year” for the junior who has contributed most to the club over the year.

We do not run Junior Angler classes, but we do encourage juniors aged 10 to 18 to do the A-Z School course along with the senior members (see details elsewhere in the website)

The club provides rods and fly tying equipment for the course, so there is no requirement for juniors to purchase this gear before participating.

The Association encourages senior members to “take a kid fishing” at every opportunity, and indeed juniors are encouraged to participate in club fishing trips, particularly the local day trips. Further to this, the Rotorua Anglers' Association, in conjunction with the Eastern Region Fish & Game Council, run the “Kids' Fishout Days” at the Ngongotaha hatcheries regularly through the months July to November. Here children aged 6 to 14 are taught the basics if casting and rod handling and helped to catch a fish in the pond especially provided for the purpose.
